Happy hump day! Well for you guys…for me it’s my last day of work because tomorrow I am headed to Pensacola! It’s mine and Nick’s turn to visit my sister and her hubby, Nick #2, and I am SO EXCITED. My sister is 10000% my soul and I have been missing her like crazy! She definitely balances me out, and every time I leave from being around her I am reminded to be calm, present and grounded in my life. Does anyone else constantly need that reminder? I definitely do 🙂
So today I wanted to share everything I ate this past Monday…it’s been awhile since my last daily eats post! I am trying to share as much as I can of what I eat on a daily basis over on Instagram, so make sure to follow me there as well!
I also wanted to share something new-ish I’ve added to my diet and explain WHY I have been enjoying it. I personally reached out to Perfect Ketones recently to see if I could try their exogenous ketones, and they thankfully agreed! I decided I personally wanted to share more about this product that I have been thoroughly enjoying!
So I am going to wait to do a blog post about the benefits of teaching your body to run off both fat stores (aka ketosis) and glucose stores. Since that would be a long post in of it itself- I am going to wait to discuss this in detail! I think it is SUPER IMPORTANT TO KNOW…Ketosis or using exogenous ketones for me, and for a lot of people, doesn’t always and doesn’t need to be about weight loss. I am 100% not using this product to burn fat/lose weight. Even with plenty of extra fat on my body to burn (I am saying that in a positive way as I personally love my curvy figure) I could care less about doing that. Seriously.
With that being said, I do think there are plenty of products/food out there that have lots of health benefits, but because they are marketed for weight loss/burning fat myself and probably many of us stray away from using them because that’s not a goal or focus of mine. MCT oil is a great example of something I avoided for a long time because of that. Now I LOVE having at least a tablespoon daily because I love the way it makes my brain feel and I love the antimicrobial benefits it has (which is now helping me post-SIBO to keep overgrowth at bay!)
So exogenous ketones are something that you can take that puts your body into ketosis almost immediately. And since I personally do not follow a low carb diet (on purpose), I would otherwise not be able to get into ketosis. There are two reasons/benefits I see behind this. The first, is that I LOVE the brain power it gives me in the morning. It feels amazing to be so concentrated without needing to drink multiple cups of coffee to get there. Exogenous ketones are real energy, not a stimulant. And your brain prefers running on ketones! Give me 1 cup of Jacked Up Java and 1/2 scoop of Perfect Ketones…and my goodness I can conquer the world!!
The second reason I’ve been enjoying taking Perfect Ketones is to help reduce inflammation. I am in the final stages of healing from multiple gut infections (SIBO, dysbiosis and possibly a parasite??) which caused leaky gut and is something I have been suffering with for a very long time. My body has been battling signs of a leaky gut for years- starting with psoriasis, nail fungus, and then progressed to asthma, allergies, food sensitivity to everything, and then I started getting eczema, acne, keratosis polaris (bumps on the skin)…you get what I am saying. These are NOT things you have to live with. These are signs that you have a leaky gut. So if you have digestive issues, we can fix that. AND if you have digestive issues plus skin issues, sinus infections, you are getting sick often, you start getting food sensitivities, etc etc…we can fix that too. You don’t just have to live life dealing with the symptoms. Working with your health care provider like a functional medicine doctor and working with us for the nutrition/herbal supplement/mental component will change all of that. I am walking proof! I feel life a different person and I am SO thankful now that I have had these issues myself so that I can better understand my clients but also understand and know that it can be fixed.
SO back to the ketosis! I believe ketosis is quite powerful in helping reduce inflammation. So in order to completely finish healing and keep my health in tip top shape, I do believe utilizing ketosis can be beneficial to reduce my inflammation. Ketosis is NOT the same thing as ketoacidosis, which is can be a deadly form of ketosis for type 1 diabetics (so ketosis is not appropriate for them). I was taught in school these are one in the same…and they are absolutely not.
Okay enough with the rambling, onto to the eats!
Monday morning started off with a newer version of my morning routine…which included as always 4 cups of warm lemon water. While I sipped on this I wrote down 3 things I am grateful for and also what I wanted to manifest for the day and for my future.
I then sipped on 1/2 scoop of Perfect Ketones while getting ready for the gym. I usually drink the ketones 2-3/xweek after my morning drinks while I am working, but today was in the mood for them pre-workout. No rhyme or reason, just ’cause! After that, Nick and I went to the gym and I did a variety of upper body workouts, mainly lots of push ups and pull ups (still working on getting that unassisted!) 🙂
When we got back from the gym, I made a big mug of Jacked Up Java. This day I made it with extra MCT oil and a heavyyyyy splash of heavy cream in addition to the rest of the ingredients.
My breakfasts have been totally different lately and dependent on what I am in the mood for. On Monday, I was hungry soon after my coffee and wanted a big bowl of yogurt. So that’s what I had! Siggi’s 4& plain yogurt mixed with my homemade yogurt, cacao nibs, pumpkin seeds, maca powder, cinnamon and some almond butter added on top because there wasn’t enough peanut butter in the almost empty jar for me 🙂 YUM.
Lunch on Monday was my usual LOADED salad. This day it was spinach, roasted carrots and green beans, rotisserie chicken, sauerkraut, olive oil and I also had a few bites of the cheese pictured. I was very hungry this day, and was thankful I packed extra food for work! After the salad I was still really hungry, so I ate some more yogurt with almond butter added. I didn’t end up finishing this as I didn’t love the yogurt flavor…Lastly, I snacked on some 88% dark chocolate (a little bit more than what is pictured) and had a few bites of unpictured coconut flakes.
And then in the afternoon I got real hungry again, so I listened! More unsweetened coconut flakes and a blood orange did the trick.
For dinner, I had leftovers of this exact recipe I posted last week!I, per usual, smothered the chicken in mustard. Because I loveeee mustard. I ate most of what’s pictured here…And then for dessert I had a couple pieces of this fudge recipe! Totally unplanned to eat all the foods this day of recipes I just posted, but that’s what happens when you genuinely eat all the foods from recipes you post! I am NOT one of those bloggers who never actually eats what they post! I also had some apple cider vinegar mixed with water and bone broth on the side.
And that’s it! I usually have turmeric milk before bed but wasn’t in the mood on Monday. As always, I drink plenty of water throughout the day and I want to say at some point I also had green tea, too.
