Today’s What I Ate Wednesday post guest stars my husband! Continue reading to find out what a dietitian’s husbands eats in a day.
Let me start by saying I thought this guest WIAW post was a one-time only deal. Clearly I was wrong. Despite my reluctance, happy wife = happy life, so I obliged…
This WIAW is from last Wednesday. As you probably already know, Wednesday morning is leg day at the gym. I crawled out of bed at 4:45AM and immediately ate a banana followed by a cup of coffee (BCAAs + maca powder + 2% milk). Sorry I didn’t get a picture, but like I said, it was 4:45AM. After the gym, I immediately had a protein shake made with Bodylogix whey protein, organic frozen mixed berries, and 2% milk. Again, sorry no picture.
Once I got to work I had another cup of coffee. This time NO SUGAR. (Victoria, aren’t you proud?) Just some half and half creamer and I even remembered to take a picture.
Shortly after coffee, it was time for 1st breakfast. First breakfast? Yeah, you read that right. Victoria doesn’t think I’ve been getting enough protein in my diet, especially for breakfast. As a result, we’ve been trying to step up my breakfast game. This week we accomplished that by preparing 2 breakfast items. The first was an egg, chicken sausage, spinach, and cheese muffin. As you can see, I had 2 of these.
Second breakfast followed very soon after 1st breakfast. I considered this more of my breakfast dessert than a separate meal. It consisted of a 1 cup serving of old fashioned rolled oats topped with some maple syrup and peanut butter.
After a 2-course breakfast, I was good-to-go until lunch. For lunch this week, we made a batch of Fit Men Cook Honey Mustard Pulled Chicken. This meal was meant to be eaten with whole grain brown rice, however by Wednesday I had already eaten most of the rice that I prepped on Sunday. Since I’m lazy and didn’t want to spend 45 agonizing minutes making more rice, I opted to just eat the rest of the pulled chicken on a whole wheat bun. As you can see below, I think I made the right decision. (Side note: To any of my fantasy football buddies out there who might be reading this, I clearly DID NOT eat a salad for lunch today.) For ‘dessert’ I had some watermelon which was perfectly ripe and delicious.
My afternoon snack was super simple. Victoria scored free Squarebars for being such an awesome blogger and I have had the pleasure to get to eat some of them. Today I had the chocolate coated crunch flavor which was really good.
Dinner was prepared by Chef Victoria and consisted of her Thai shrimp curry. Somewhere hidden beneath all that Sriracha and chili oil is a bunch of shrimp, zucchini, green beans, broccoli, and coconut curry sauce. Victoria’s portion is also pictured (the non-hairy arm is obviously hers).
My after dinner snack/dessert was yet another freebee. Victoria got a few samples of Halo Top ice cream and it is pretty fantastic, especially considering the fact that it’s almost good for you. I enjoyed about ½ a pint of chocolate before I forced myself to stop and save the rest.
And that’s it! Thanks Nick for sharing your eats for all of us 🙂
